The APF has met with leaders of Bahrain’s National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) as part of its Leadership Solidarity Outreach program.
The virtual session, held on 21 February, was an opportunity to discuss the NIHR’s priorities as part of a program of virtual engagement with APF members during COVID-19.
During the session, Ali Al-Dezari, NIHR Chairperson, and Yasser Shaheen, NIHR Secretary General, highlighted the topic of GANHRI accreditation as a specific area of focus, and appreciated the provision of legal advisory services on accreditation offered by the APF.
The APF was represented by Kieren Fitzpatrick, APF Director, and Pip Dargan, Principal Adviser, Capacity Assessments and International Engagement.
The Leadership Solidarity Outreach program aims to maintain institutional and personal relationships while travel between countries is either not possible or highly restrictive.
To date, leadership outreach calls have been held with the NHRIs of Bahrain, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea and Sri Lanka, which has led to further assistance from the APF.
