25th APF Annual Meeting

The 25th APF Annual Meeting - the first to be held online - brought together all APF members, along with other NHRIs in the region.

For the first time in the organisation's history, the APF Annual Meeting was held as a virtual event on 9 September 2020.

The online meeting brought together all 25 APF member institutions, along with representatives from other national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in the region.

Voting was held for the five-member APF Governance Committee, with a selection process that seeks to reflect the APF's regional diversity and promote gender equality.

The APF Governance Committee is elected by Forum Councillors, representing 'A status' NHRIs in the Asia Pacific.

Forum Councillors also elected a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson to lead the Governance Committee. The Chairperson of the Governance Committee automatically serves as APF Chairperson for the following two-year period.

In addition, an election was held for the Asia Pacific region's 'alternate' member on the GANHRI Subcommittee on Accreditation, should one be required.

Finally, a vote was held to determine the location of the APF's 26th Annual Meeting and Biennial Conference in 2021.
